Vincenzo Sacco

Vincenzo Sacco , lat . Vincentius Saccus (born May 14, 1681 in Bologna , † March 5, 1744 there ), was an Italian lawyer and scholar.

Live and act

He was born in Bologna in 1681, his father was Giovanni Paolo Sacco, doctor of civil and canon law . He attended the Jesuit school in Bologna and finally studied philosophy with the Augustinian Canons of Lateran and at the same time law at the Accademia degli Impazienti, a law academy that was originally founded in Bologna in 1589 and reopened in 1693. In 1711 he received his degree in utroque iure .

The following year he became a member of the College of Civil Law and then joined the College of Judges and Lawyers. In 1709 he received the chair of civil law and devoted the rest of his life to teaching civil and canon law and the doctrine of statutes . From 1713 he published several works on these topics. In 1716 he was made promoter of the Natio Germanica , one of the nation in which the students and scholars of Bologna were organized.

From 1723 he held several important advisory positions and held civil offices, including as President of Monte di Pietà .

In 1722 Sacco was awarded both the title of Imperial Knight and Count Palatine . In 1730 he was one of the four vicars of the archdeacon of the Cathedral of Bologna . In addition, Pope Clement XII awarded him . 1739 the title of count .

He died in Bologna in 1744.
