Vincenzo Todisco (* 1964 in Stans ) is a Swiss writer .

Life

Vincenzo Todisco was born in Stans as the son of Italian immigrants. He studied Romance languages ​​(Italian and French) at the University of Zurich and was an editor at the cultural magazine Quaderni grigionitaliani until 2004 . He is a lecturer at the Graubünden University of Education and lives in Rhäzüns .

Novels

Todisco writes in Italian and German . He wrote his first four novels in Italian, they were published in German translation by the Swiss Rotpunktverlag .

The latest novel, Das Eidechsenkind , is Todisco's first book publication in German. It tells the story of a guest worker family who immigrated to Switzerland under the seasonal status. The novel is told from the perspective of a child who was raised in hiding due to the restrictive residence permits for guest workers. The novel was nominated for the Swiss Book Prize 2018.
