Vincenzo de 'Rossi

Vincenzo de 'Rossi (* 1525 in Fiesole , Italy , † 1587 in Florence , Italy) was a 16th century Italian sculptor .

Life

De 'Rossi began his professional career as an apprentice to the sculptor Baccio Bandinelli around 1534 . In 1546 he went to Rome , where he received his first independent commission in 1547. With this statue of The Young Christ with Saint Joseph set up in a chapel in the Pantheon , he applied at the same time to the Accademia dei Virtuosi , an artists' association with similar goals as the Roman Accademia di San Luca or the Dutch Guilds of St. Luke .
