Vindictiv is a Swedish progressive metal band from Stockholm that was formed in 2004.

history

The band was founded in early 2004 by guitarist Stefan Lindholm. After Lindholm got in touch with Pontus Larsson, he joined the band as a keyboardist. Then they worked on Lindholm's already prepared songs. They then recorded a first demo with singer Tommy Karevik ( Seventh Wonder ), with the instruments being recorded in Lindholms studio, while the vocal tracks were recorded in Johan Larsson's studio, who had since joined the band as a guitarist, in Huddinge . The recordings for this were finished in 2005. After that Johan Larsson and Karevik left the band again. Göran Edman , previously with Yngwie Malmsteen , joined the band as the new singer . Then the bass player Nalle "Grizzlyballe" Påhlsson joined the line-up. Through Edman, the group also came into contact with Mikael Wikman, who took the post of drummer. The band then recorded their debut album, which was produced by Stefan Lindholm and mixed by Göran Elmquist in Stockholm in August 2007. Thereupon the group reached a contract with Escape Music for the release in Europe and with Soundholic for a release in Japan . The album was released in early 2008. After the release of this self-titled album, the second album followed in 2009 under the name Ground Zero . On the sound carrier the drummer Zoltan Csörsz and the guitarist Patrik Karlsson were represented as new members. The third album called Cage of Infinity followed in 2013.

style

According to Dominik Winter from Metal Hammer , the group to play Cage of Infinity progressive metal with extended guitar solo . The singing is unfamiliar with the addition of the new singer Marco Sandron, who partly reminds of Rob Halford and Bruce Dickinson . Overall, the songs are more compact and “gruff” than their predecessor. Songs like The Chosen would sound like Judas Priest , while Astronaut evokes memories of Iron Maiden .
