The LaHave River is a river in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia .
The LaHave River arises at the confluence of its two headwaters, the Spry River and Shell Camp Stream, in the western part of the Nova Scotia peninsula . The LaHave River flows 30 km south to New Germany . The Nova Scotia Highway 10 follows the course of the river. The river then turns southeast and passes West Northfield . Shortly before reaching the small town of Bridgewater , the Nova Scotia Highway 103 crosses the LaHave River. East of Bridgewater begins the 16 km long elongated estuary of the LaHave River on the southeast coast of Nova Scotia. The LaHave River has a length of about 80 km. The mean discharge at the North Westfield gauge is 35 m³ / s.
The LaHave River is a spawning area for Atlantic salmon .
Hydropower plants
In New Germany, Morgan Falls Power Corporation has been operating an 850 kW run-of-river power plant on the LaHave River since 1996 . A fish ladder will enable Atlantic salmon and other fish species to pass through the Morgan Falls there.
