Viola Calligaris (born March 17, 1996 in Sarnen ) is a dual citizen ( Switzerland / Italy ) and a soccer player for the Levante UD and a midfielder for the Swiss senior national team .

Career

Viola Calligaris began playing football at FC Giswil in Obwalden when she was a child. As the first girl in the Obwalden team, she had a longstanding passion for football, which was continued with training for the Central Swiss selection. In March 2009 she moved to FC Sachseln, followed by the move to the NLA women's team at SC Kriens in September 2009 . The FC Emmenbrücke enabled her from August 2011 training with the U-15 league coca cola . A short time later she was used as a regular player and achieved the title of runner-up with the boys in the penalty shootout. From July 2012 she switched again to the NLA women's team at SC Kriens. From July 2013 she was in the NLA team of the BSC YB in Bern for 4 years.

For the 2017/18 season, she moved to Atlético de Madrid, which was the 2017 Spanish champions of the Primera División (Spain, women) . With Atlético de Madrid, she played against Wolfsburg in the 2017 UEFA Women's Champions League . For the championship title of Atlético de Madrid, she scored 3 goals in 19 partial appearances (Granadilla Tenerife and a double strike against Santa Teresa). For the 2018/19 season, the central Swiss woman again signed a professional contract with Atlético de Madrid. Again the team celebrated the Spanish championship title.

Viola Calligaris was also involved in the historic world record match between Atlético Madrid and FC Barcelona in front of 60,739 spectators at the Wanda Metropolitano .

After two championship titles and two final qualifications in the Cup, Viola Calligaris moved on to the sea and signed a one-year contract with an option to renew at Valencia Feminino.

After a season at Valencia CF, she moved within the city to UD Levante Feminino, where Calligaris signed a two-year contract.

National team

With the U-17 national team she was able to take part in the UEFA U-17 European Championship in 2012 and scored a total of nine goals for the Swiss U-17 team in six games. She was also used with the U-19 national team and scored three goals in nine games.

In March 2016, the Obwalden made her debut in the Swiss women's senior national team and traveled to the USA with the Swiss national team for two test matches.

In the World Cup qualifier in Schaffhausen on November 24, 2017, she scored her first goal to make it 1-0 for the Swiss national team against Belarus. 4 days later she played her part in the win (5-1) against Albania in Biel with a 4-1 win. In June 2018 she scored her third goal for the Swiss national team again in the 6th game of the World Cup qualification against Belarus.

Private

Viola Calligaris started doing sports at the FREI'S Schools' Talents School in summer 2013. When she switched to BSC YB, she switched to vocational training at Feusi Sportschulen in Bern. She successfully completed her vocational school leaving certificate at BWD Bern in 2017.
