The Viper Room

The Viper Room is a nightclub on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood . It opened in 1993 and until 2004 belonged in part to the actor Johnny Depp and then Darin Feinstein, Bevan Cooney and Blackhawk Capital Partners, Inc. Various lawsuits were brought against other clubs in the US that bore the same name for trademark infringement.

The Viper Room is on the one hand known for numerous scandals that took place there, but on the other hand it is also one of the most famous concert venues in the world. Although mostly lesser-known bands play there, the artists who have given concerts there in the past include Oasis , Iggy Pop , Johnny Cash , System of a Down , Placebo , Red Hot Chili Peppers and Neurotic Outsiders . From 1995 the Pussycat Dolls performed as a dance revue in the Viper Room for some time.

In 1991, Oliver Stone used the building as a backdrop for a scene in the film The Doors . The club was also mentioned on the Riverdale television series .

River Phoenix collapsed on Halloween night in 1993 in front of the Viper Room after an overdose of a speedball and died a little later.
