Heidelberger Leben Group
The Viridium Group was founded in 2013 by a joint venture between Cinven and Hannover Re , and structured according to the holding principle, and initially appeared as the Heidelberger Leben Group ; the name goes back to the first company acquired, Heidelberger Lebensversicherung .

Viridium group
Since October 2016, the group has been operating under the name Viridium Group in order to avoid confusion resulting from the name identity and to emphasize the independence of the business model as an inventory manager.
In August 2017, the Viridium Group acquired Entis Lebensversicherung AG from Protektor Lebensversicherungs-AG, which looks after around 85,000 life insurance contracts from the former Mannheimer Lebensversicherung AG.
With effect from April 30, 2019, the Viridium Group completed the majority acquisition (89.9%) of Generali Lebensversicherung AG from Generali Versicherungen . With the takeover, Viridium expanded its position in this market segment in Germany. The transaction was preceded by an extensive owner control procedure by the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) . In September 2019, the Viridium Group confirmed the sale of a real estate portfolio from the fixed assets of Generali Lebensversicherung AG (Generali Leben) to Commerz Real . In October 2019, Generali Lebensversicherung AG was renamed Proxalto Lebensversicherung AG.
