Rolf-Peter Hoenen

Rolf-Peter Hoenen (born January 3, 1947 in Aachen ) is a German lawyer. Until June 30, 2009, he was a long-time member of the board of directors of the insurance company HUK-Coburg and from November 2008 to November 2012 he was President of the German Insurance Association (GDV).

Hoenen studied law at the University of Bonn and the University of Georgia in Athens ( USA ). After completing the assessor examination , he began his professional career in 1975 at the Federal Supervisory Office for Insurance (BAV), which has now merged into the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin). In 1980 he took over a position in the Federal Ministry of Finance .

In 1981 he moved to Gothaer Versicherung in Göttingen , where he was a member of the board until 1988. In 1988 he followed his appointment to the board of directors of the Coburg- based HUK-Coburg , where he was initially responsible for motor insurance and sales, among other things. In 1991 he became the board spokesman for HUK-Coburg. He retired on June 30, 2009; his successor as board spokesman has been Wolfgang Weiler since July 1, 2009 .

Hoenen was a long-standing member of the executive committee of the German Insurance Association (GDV). He is also a board member and advisory board member of the Insurance Ombudsman Association in Berlin and a member of the Strategic Board of the Brussels-based umbrella organization of European insurance associations, the Comité Européen des Assurances (CEA).

In 2007 Hoenen was honored with the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon.
