Werner Plath (Manager)

Werner Plath (born December 10, 1902 in Stettin , † November 18, 1971 in Lübeck ) was a German insurance manager. As a functionary, he was the third president of the Association of the German Insurance Industry between 1953 and 1958 .

Career

The son of one studied law and political science at the University of Tübingen and the University of Kiel . After the assessor exam , Platz received a doctorate in law. From 1929 he worked for the national insurance company based in Szczecin , where he initially headed the liability litigation and later the accident and liability insurance departments. In 1936 he became a deputy member of the board of the National Allgemeine property insurance company , from 1938 he sat on the boards of all three National companies, which in addition to the property insurance company consisted of National Life Insurance and Stettiner Reinsurance , and was promoted to deputy chairman Bruno Stieringer . After the end of the Second World War , the two of them rebuilt the company with this staffing constellation, which moved its headquarters to Lübeck. In 1947, Plath Stieringer succeeded as chairman of the insurance group and managed the company until 1969 when it was taken over by Colonia .

In addition to his work for the National, Platz was also involved in various interest groups. In 1953 he succeeded Karl Haus as President of the GDV, five years later he handed over the office to Rolf Raiser . In 1950, at the GDV meeting in Bad Kissingen , he initiated the establishment of the employers' association of insurance companies in Germany .
