The virtual institute "Transformation - Energiewende NRW" is an association of scientific institutions in North Rhine-Westphalia that scientifically accompanies and supports the sustainable restructuring of the energy supply system in North Rhine-Westphalia. The focus of the VI's research is on the socio-economic and cultural implications of the energy transition , taking into account the specific framework conditions in North Rhine-Westphalia. The projects of the Virtual Institute are currently funded by the Ministry of Economics, Innovation, Digitalization and Energy of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and supported by the EnergieForschung.NRW cluster. The project management is carried out by Steven Engler from the Geographical Institute of the Ruhr University Bochum and Manfred Fischedick from the Wuppertal Institute .
