Viscount Windsor

Viscount Windsor is a hereditary British title of nobility , which was awarded once each in the Peerage of Ireland and the Peerage of the United Kingdom .

Award

For the first time on June 19, 1699 the title Viscount Windsor , of Blackcastle, was created in the Peerage of Ireland for the English politician and military Hon. Thomas Windsor , a younger son of Thomas Windsor, 1st Earl of Plymouth . On January 1, 1712, he was also awarded the subordinate title Baron Mountjoy , in the Isle of Wight , in the Peerage of Great Britain . Both titles expired with the death of his son, the 2nd Viscount, on January 25, 1758.

In the second bestowal on December 18, 1905, the title Viscount Windsor , of St Fagans in the County of Glamorgan , was newly created in the Peerage of the United Kingdom for Robert Windsor-Clive, 14th Baron Windsor . Together with the Viscountcy he was also newly awarded the title of Earl of Plymouth . The apparent marriage of the respective Earl of Plymouth has since used the courtesy title Viscount Windsor . In addition, he had inherited the title Baron Windsor from his mother in 1869 , which was created on November 3, 1529 in the Peerage of England .
