Vita Heine Pētersone (born November 21, 1984 in Cēsis , Latvian SSR ) is a Latvian - Norwegian cyclist .

Athletic career

Vita Heine was born in Latvia, where she also grew up; since 2006 she has also had Norwegian citizenship. She only started cycling at the age of 28. She has been driving for the Hitec Products team since 2014 ; until 2017 she continued to work part-time as an actuary . She usually pays for the trips to the bike races out of her own pocket, and instead of staying in hotels, she stays in a mobile home or privately.

In 2011, Heine took third place at the Latvian championship in the individual time trial , in 2013 and 2014 second place. In 2016 she won the Finnish stage race Naisten Etappiajot (NEA). In 2016 and 2017 she was two-time Norwegian champion in individual time trials and road races , and in 2018 she was once again national road champion. In 2016 she started at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where she finished 33rd in the road race and 25th in the individual time trial.

2018 occupied Heine each sixth place in the time trial competition Chrono Champenois - Trophée Européen in France and in the Thai stage race Tour of Thailand . At the road world championships in Innsbruck she finished 24th in the individual time trial. In 2019, she won the Tour de Feminin - O cenu Českého Švýcarska and the Chrono Champenois - Trophée Européen and was again national champion in the individual time trial.
