Anita Valen de Vries

Anita Valen de Vries (born December 12, 1968 in Porsgrunn ) is a former Norwegian cyclist .

In 1985, Anita Valen became a three-time Norwegian champion, in road racing , in the individual time trial and in the team time trial . Shortly before the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul , she suffered an accident, then retired from competitive cycling and paused for around 13 years.

In 2000 Anita Valen made her comeback, won the Tour de Bretagne in the same year and was two-time Norwegian champion in 2002, in road racing and in the criterion . In total, she won 14 national titles in the course of her career. At the UCI Road World Championships in Verona in 2004 , she finished third in the road race. She competed at the Olympic Games twice - in 2004 and 2008 ; In 2004 in Athens she was 14th in the road race.

Anita Valen de Vries is married to the Dutch cyclist Gerrit de Vries , her sister is the equally successful cyclist Monica Valvik-Valen .
