Vitali Boot (born July 6, 1972 ) is a former German amateur boxer.

Career

After the reunification, Vitali Boot legally moved from the former Soviet Union to Germany due to his German ancestry . At the age of 14 he started boxing and completed an apprenticeship as a locksmith in Hanover . Since 1991 he boxed for the BC Gifhorn .

He became German super heavyweight champion in 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2004, and won a bronze super heavyweight medal at the World Championships in Belfast in June 2001 . He was only eliminated in the semi-finals against Ruslan Chagayev . At the 1997 World Championships in Budapest he lost to Giorgi Kandelaki , and at the 1998 European Championships in Minsk to Alexei Lesin .

In 2002 he received the Lower Saxony Sports Medal and, with seven national championship titles, is the most successful boxer in Lower Saxony's sports history.
