Vitus of Habdank

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Vitus von Habdank († November 27, 1325 ) was elected bishop of Breslau , but could not take office.

Career

Vitus von Habdank had been cathedral choirmaster in Breslau since 1293. After the death of Wroclaw Bishop Heinrich von Würben on December 25, 1319, part of the cathedral chapter elected him as his successor, while the other part opted for the Glogau Scholaster Lutold von Kremsier . Nevertheless, the choice of Vitus von Habdank was confirmed by the Gnesen Archbishop Janislaw , who was also the episcopal consecration.

Since an objection was raised against his appointment at the papal court in Avignon , Vitus could not take up the office of bishop. The diocese was administered by the administrator Nikolaus von Banz .

After lengthy trials, Vitus von Habdank renounced the diocese in 1325.
