life and career
Green began playing the piano at the age of eight, and at 13 she was part of a girls' band called Younique . She later became a background singer for Jill Scott and made contacts for her own solo career.
In 2001 she signed with Columbia Records and released her debut album A Love Story the following year . The album itself was quite successful, stayed in the charts for half a year and was awarded gold . The song Emotional Rollercoaster , which not only became a Top 40 hit, but also reached number 1 on the US dance charts, was particularly successful .
Her second album Vivian was released in 2005 and reached number 18 on the Billboard 200 and number 5 in the R&B charts. With Gotta Go, Gotta Leave and I Like It (But I Don't Need It) , she had two dances Number one hits.
After that, it took five years until the third album, Beautiful , which hit the charts again, but still fell short of its earlier successes.
