Vivian Suter

Vivian Suter (born August 26, 1949 in Buenos Aires ) is an Argentine- Swiss painter .

life and work

Vivian Suter moved with her family from Buenos Aires to Basel. In 1972 she attended the Basel School of Applied Arts and then briefly settled in Vienna, Africa, Bern and Rome. Since 1982 she has lived on a former coffee plantation in Panajachel , Guatemala . Her photographic works, watercolors and oil paintings on paper and canvas, which are created there, deal with the Lago de Atitlán , the wind, the rain, the volcanoes, the vastness and a wooded area. She lives in the midst of palm trees and lush vegetation, where she designs her work. Her mother Elisabeth Wild also lived there . Her first marriage was with Martin Suter married.

Vivian Suter is represented at numerous international exhibitions. In 2014 she participated in the 31st São Paulo Biennale and in 2017 in documenta 14 .
