The plant family of vivianiaceae belongs to the order of the pantograph-like (Geraniales). The species only have areas in South America : Chile and eastern southern Brazil .
description
They are herbaceous plants that lignify at the base, semi-shrubs or shrubs . The alternate leaves are simple. The leaf margins are smooth or serrated.
The inflorescences are cymes . The hermaphroditic, radial symmetry flowers are four or five-fold. The eight or ten stamens are free. The two to three fused carpels form an upper ovary . There are fruit capsules formed.
