Vivien Vee (* 2. May 1960 in Trieste as Viviana Andreattini ) is a former Italian disco - singer .

Career

Vivien Vee's first record was released in 1979. It was discovered and produced by the musicians Claudio Simonetti and Giancarlo Meo. Simonetti had already become famous with Goblin and, together with Meo, had founded the formation Easy Going ( Baby I Love You ) in 1978 , which at the time was based on the disco sound that was particularly popular in New York. With the Vivien Vee project, the two musicians continued their productions in the direction of disco. The artist herself, who at that time did not speak English and sang with an accent, was produced in fashion and style specifically for the US market. Vee presented himself to the public in glittering and often skin-tight stage clothes and a lively dance style.

The single Give Me a Break developed into a disco hit on both sides of the Atlantic and was one of the first Italo disco hits in 1980 to reach the top 10 of the US hot dance club charts . Over 100,000 Vivien Vee records were sold in the USA in 1980. In 1980 she appeared in the extravagant The Saint , a large-capacity discotheque in Manhattan that is mostly frequented by homosexuals . Remember followed in the same year as a disco smash hit . Billboard named her one of the top 50 disco artists in 1981.

The success of Give Me a Break could only be partially repeated and so Vee was now produced for the emerging Euro Disco in Europe. Vee was particularly successful in Italy as a disco interpreter, appearances in shows on Italian TV, such as the 1981 music show Discoring , followed. The single Higher became their only Top 40 hit in 1983 in their homeland, the B-side Blue Disease became a European disco hit. Heartbeat reached the European dance charts again in 1987, followed by their last release in 1989 with Cross My Heart .

Trivia

In 1982 she posed for the Italian edition of Playboy, on the cover of which she was also shown. More revealing photo series appeared in the men's magazines Playmen , Blitz and Skorpio . Give Me a Break was chosen at number 380 of the 700 Best Disco Songs of the '70s &' 80s , which were compiled for DiscoMusic.com by well-known DJs such as Robbie Leslie and Greg Wilson. A small comeback in 2005, at least in the gamer scene , brought her the use of her 1980s song Remember in the popular computer game The Warriors .
