Viza is an American band from Los Angeles with influences from various musical styles.
style
The music of Viza fuses the Middle Eastern rhythm with the modern and is steeped in Armenian and Greek traditions. Mainly one speaks of the genre "Experimental Rock"
history
In 2004 two members of the band Neurobox, K'noup Tomopoulos (vocals, guitar) and Hiram Rosario (drums) founded the band Viza (formerly Visa). K'noup had his first project ideas back in 2000. Over time, Viza has developed into a nine-piece band.
K'noup's voice is accompanied by the sounds of Duduk , played by the grandson of Duduk player Dschiwan Gasparjan . The band members are of Armenian, Greek, Japanese, Lebanese and Spanish origins. The band is under contract with their own label Architects of Melody. Published in 2014 Viza a cover of the Prince -Titel When Doves Cry .
On May 6, 2013 Chris Daniel announced his exit from the band on Facebook: "I have decided to no longer be a part of Viza due to personal and creative differences". Ultimately, however, Hiram Rosario left the band and Chris Daniel took the place on drums.
Band name
The name Viza is derived from the Engl. Term for “visa” (Latin for “what has been seen”) and is referred to by the band as an audio passport (to German hearing passport). The name emphasizes the multicultural aspect of the band and the range of the music.
