Vice County of Agde

A county of Agde with the capital Agde already existed in the 6th century. At the time of Charlemagne , it belonged to the county of Béziers as the vice-county of Agde . It was integrated into the Margraviate of Gothien and later in the County of Toulouse , then sold to the Bishop of Agde in 1187 and later given to Simon IV. De Montfort . His son Amaury VII de Montfort ceded Agde to the king in 1224 .
