Vladimir Genin ( Russian Владимир Миха́йлович Генин / Wladimir Michailowitsch Genin ; born March 31, 1958 in Moscow , Soviet Union ) is a Russian-German composer , pianist and music teacher of Jewish descent. He has lived in Munich since 1997 .

Life

Vladimir Genin is the second child of the writer and musician Michail Genin and the music teacher Elena Spinel. His grandfather, painter and set designer Jossif Spinel, worked in the films Ivan the Terrible and Alexander Newski by Sergei Eisenstein .

He studied at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory in the composition class of Roman Ledenev and in the piano class of Ilya Klyachko and received a diploma with distinction in 1983. His compositional development was influenced by his long friendship with Georgi Sviridov , who was an important composer and student of Dmitri Shostakovich .

He composes works for symphony orchestras, chamber ensembles and choir, which are performed in Europe, Russia and the USA. Music publishers in Germany and Russia publish his works, including Sikorski Music Publishers , Hamburg; New Music Publishing House , Berlin; Ries & Erler , Berlin; Wolfgang Haas Classic Cologne , Cologne; Enter Media Publishing , Munich; Kompozitor music publisher , Moscow.

They performed at the International Review of Composers in Belgrade (Serbia), at the International Festival Moscow Autumn and at the International Gori Choir Festival (Georgia), as well as at the music festival of the Munich Society for New Music .

The mystery play Lament for Andrei Bogolubski, the Great Prince of Vladimir , was performed during the celebration of the Millennium of Christianity in Russia and on a concert tour in the USA and has since seen over 70 performances. Over 20,000 copies of this work have been sold on records and CDs.

Performances of his orchestrations of the vocal cycles by Modest Mussorgsky Songs and Dances of Death and Without Sun on behalf of the baritone Dmitri Hvorostovsky took place under the baton of Valery Gergiev in St. Petersburg (Symphony Orchestra of the Kirov- Mariinsky Theater ), Rotterdam and Brussels (Rotterdam Philharmonic) instead of.

The feature film Der Brief des Kosmonauten (D, 2001) with Genin's original music was presented in the cinema and broadcast by Premiere TV. A multimedia project by Vladimir Genin together with the Nodelman Quartet Threnody for the Victims in Ukraine (funeral prayer for the victims in Ukraine) on the commemoration day of the dead of the protests in Kyiv Majdan Square in February 2014 ( Euromaidan ) has for a big Attention in Germany.

In addition, V. Genin occasionally orchestrates film scores for important German film composers, such as B. to the ZDF two-part "Die Pilgerin" (2014), to the movies "Insoupçonnable" (Switzerland / France 2010), "Lippels Traum" (D 2009).

As initiator and artistic director of the project The Musicians Guild of the Future , he teaches piano, chamber music, composition, orchestration and prepares young artists for competitions and for studies at the music college. Among his students are winners of national and international competitions in Germany, France and Switzerland. He has been implementing his pedagogical principles since 2002 as head of the music department with a team of 20 and 260 students at the Hallbergmoos Adult Education Center and at the Austrian Master Classes in Zell an der Pram Castle . He is also artistic director of the first KlassiK concert series , which he launched in 2008.
