Voccio († 16 BC) was the elected king of the 13 Celtic tribes of Noricum at the time of Caesar , whom he supported in the Roman Civil War . He married his sister to the Suebian prince Ariovistus in order to win an ally against the Boier .

Voccio was a good strategist and knew how to create allies for Noricum. In 49 BC During the Roman civil war between Caesar and Pompey , and a year after a Dacian invasion was repulsed by the Norics, the Norics threw the whole weight of their important industry behind Caesar's cause. Voccio trusted that Caesar would prevail and also sent a unit of mounted warriors to help him. But he must not have known that his sister had already been killed by the Romans at the time. After the victory of Caesar's legions over Ariovist's army, it was slaughtered while trying to reach the saving Rhine.

Caesar's eventual victory in the civil war had helped secure the friendly relations between Noricum and Rome relatively throughout the rest of the empire's history. But it also had the consequence that the Norics, attracted by Roman luxury , began to Romanize themselves long before the Roman Empire took over Noricum . Voccio played an important role in Noricum's history. Shortly before the beginning and shortly after the end of the Roman Civil War, he was instrumental in defeating the invaded Dacians around 50 BC. BC, and the Boier tribes around 40 BC. From Noricum.
