Lists on the subject

The Voere AM 180 Automat was the world's first handgun with a laser aiming device.

description

The Voere AM 180 Automat is a submachine gun that is equipped with a wooden stop, pommel and a removable fore-end. For use in daylight, the laser is replaced by a wooden shaft. This means that after removing the laser aiming device, the barrel can be held by hand to stabilize it when firing, since the hand is protected from the hot barrel. The ammunition is supplied via a plate magazine which is attached to the top of the weapon. It can hold up to 275 cartridges in one load. It was developed by the American weapon designer Richard Casull around 1960 and handed over to the Austrian company Voere Präzisionstechnik GmbH from Kufstein , Tyrol for improvement . With the exception of the laser aiming device, the weapon was developed for series production at Voere by 1972 and initially also produced. The AM 180 was intended as a quick response to the 1972 Olympic attack in Munich . In 1974 it went into series production. The weapon was first imported from Austria and later manufactured in the USA by the US companies Illinois Arms Company, Inc. and American Arms International. With its battery-operated red laser , the laser targeting device provides precision marksmen with feedback on the exact position of the selected target in the sight . The Voere AM 180 offers two fire modes: single fire and continuous fire. Due to the design and type of ammunition, very high rates of fire of up to 1200 rounds per minute are possible. Due to the small caliber .22lfb and a weak propellant charge, a kickback is hardly noticeable for the shooter, so that the shot pattern is very concentrated and the noise level is kept low.
