Vogel-Lisi

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Vogel-Lisi (also: Vogellisi ) is a Swiss dialect song from Adelboden in the Bernese Oberland . Although it was probably not written until the middle of the 20th century, it is one of the Bernese folk songs. The song has become a trademark of Adelboden and is one of the most famous dialect songs in Switzerland .

Emergence

The origin of the song is not clear. No references to the song or the figure of Vogel-Lisi are known from old books, documents, traditions or the local archive of Adelboden, nor are there any known references to the old repertoire of the Adelboden choirs. It can therefore be assumed that the song is not a traditional cultural asset, but a modern folk song.

Oral tradition says that the song refers to a herbalist who actually lived in Adelboden earlier. She collected herbs and was accompanied by a bird - an eagle or a raven - which was also found dead after the woman's fatal fall. The embellished story is not an old tradition, but was probably written in more recent times.

According to the Adelboden vice tourism director, Jürg Blum, in January 2011 to Radio DRS, the song was written in the 1950s when the old tavern was opened in Adelboden. The Meisen duo from Zurich played there . When the beautiful, young photographer Lisa entered the restaurant, the duo "spontaneously shook the piece out of their sleeve" to sing about this woman. The song is therefore actually a "pick-up song". The photographer Lisa was a “pretty woman of life” with a “dubious reputation” and had “often changed friendships”. In the 1950s, she photographed the guests in Adelboden's nightclubs and turned many an Adelboden's head in the process.

song lyrics

The song consists of only one verse followed by a refrain . Since it is written in Swiss German , for which there is no uniform spelling, the song texts are different, depending on whether it should come closer to the Bern German dialect or a more general Swiss German dialect (e.g. Zurich German ).

Two variants of the spelling of the lyrics

If I only knew where it would be       If I only knew where the Vogel-Lisi would be
s'Vogellisi chunt from Adelbode The Vogel-Lisi chunnt from Adelbode
Adelbode lies in the Bernese Oberland Adelbode is in the Bärner Oberland
s'Berner Oberland is beautiful The Bärner Oberland is beautiful-ö-ön
yes, z'Oberland yes, z'Oberland The Oberland, yes the Oberland
z'Bernese Oberland is beautiful The Bärner Oberland is beautiful
z'Oberland jo, z'Oberland The Oberland, yes the Oberland
z'Bernese Oberland is beautiful. The Bärner Oberland is beautiful.

In high German the text means: "If I only knew where the Vogellisi is / the Vogellisi comes from Adelboden / Adelboden is in the Bernese Oberland / the Bernese Oberland is beautiful ..."

Adaptations

The song was picked up by many artists and sometimes played in their own interpretations ( cover versions ), for example by Matty Valentino in an après-ski version or DJ Ötzi in a duet with Sylvia Michel .

Trivia

In Adelboden, many things were named after the song, for example there is Vogel-Lisi hiking sausage, Vogel-Lisi cheese, Vogel-Lisi tea, Vogel-Lisi- Gonfi , Vogel-Lisi syrup, a mountain run and a music festival with this name . Adelboden Tourismus markets the “Vogel-Lisi” trademark and at times offered several versions of the song on its website, including a giraffe singing the song.
