The company Vogel & Schnurmann exhibited old textiles artificial wool and synthetic cotton ago, it was 1833 in Muggensturm founded and moved its headquarters in 1879 to Karlsruhe . With 500 employees in 1914, it was one of the most important companies in this branch in the German Reich .

history

The founder of the company was Juda Levy Vogel. In 1884 the most important shareholders were the Jewish entrepreneurs Samuel Vogel, his brother-in-law Samuel Schnurmann and Simon Bernheimer. That year, a pulp factory was built in Maxau harbor , which later became Ettlingen-Maxau Papier- und Zellstoffwerke AG . In 1964 E. Holtzmann & Cie. AG , whose main shareholder since 1997 was Enso Oyj (merged to Stora Enso in 1998 ).

In 1899 the company relocated its headquarters from the Mühlburger Tor to the Westbahnhof (formerly Grünwinkler Straße 7). There the architect Adolf Singrün built a house with a water tower in 1907 . There is now a restaurant in the preserved boiler house.
