Vok Dams

Volkwart Dams (born May 16, 1938 in Wuppertal ), called Vok, is a German entrepreneur and pioneer for event marketing in Germany. He runs an event marketing company , is the founder and managing partner of the agency of the same name, Vok Dams Gesellschaft für Kommunikation mbH and Vok Dams Medien GmbH .

Life

Vok Dams started his career as a photographer. From 1956 to 1959 he studied at the Cologne University of Applied Sciences and completed his studies as a photo engineer (Dipl.-Ing.Technical-Scientific Photography and Dipl.-Ing.Creative Photography). 1961 followed the master examination in the photography trade (photographer master). The photo studio founded in 1962 became an advertising agency (graphics and photography). From 1967 the focus was on "Audiovisual communication with slideshow and multivision".

As a lecturer at the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences (1968–1971), Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences and Essen University (1973–1974) and the Kassel University (1975–1977), he dealt with the possibilities of audiovisual communication in the context of long-term communication strategies.

In 1975 he founded the Vok Dams Group, an agency that developed into one of the leading live marketing agencies with communication, media and events programs. In 2005, together with his son Colja M. Dams, he created the Vok Dams: ILM , the Institute for Live Marketing, of which he is still President today. Vok Dams.Consulting GmbH followed in 2009 as a consulting company, in which the institute is now integrated.

Vok Dams is a founding member of the FME - Forum Marketing-Event Agencies and was its president until 2005. As the former deputy chairman of the umbrella organization FAMAB Communication Association (formerly FAMAB Association Direct Business Communication), he had a lasting impact on the development of the communications industry in the areas of events and live marketing.
