Volkan Göğtepe (born March 22, 1987 in Artvin ) is a Turkish beach volleyball player .

Career

Volkan Göğtepe started his career in 2001 in a duo with his older brother Hakan . From 2010 to 2012 he formed a duo with Selçuk Şekerci . After a few top places in satellite tournaments, the two Turks competed at the European Championship in Berlin . There they were eliminated after the preliminary round because of the lost direct comparison with the Latvians placed before them. After completing various Grand Slams in 2011, they did not get past the preliminary round at the European Championships in Kristiansand in August . A year later they were eliminated after the group stage of the European Championships in Scheveningen with two sets won . In 2013 and early 2014, Volkan Göğtepe played again with his brother Hakan at national tournaments. With Murat Giginoğlu , Volkan Göğtepe made it to the top of the world at the end of 2014 and the beginning of 2015: They finished fifth at the Sao Paulo Grand Slam and at the Lucerne Open they were the first Turkish team ever to climb onto the podium at the FIVB World Tour .
