Volker Goetze (* 1972 in Bergisch Gladbach ) is a German musician , composer and filmmaker .

Life

Volker Goetze studied jazz trumpet under Markus Stockhausen and classical music under Friedemann Immer at the Cologne University of Music and at the Aaron Copeland School of Music , Queens College, City University of New York under Michael Philip Mossman .

In addition to his main activity as a trumpeter , Goetze works as an arranger and composer. In 2001 he formed the “extraordinary duo” Ablaye Cissoko & Volker Goetze with the Senegalese kora player Ablaye Cissoko . Goetze lives and works in New York .
