Volker Heyn

Volker Heyn (born December 13, 1938 in Karlsruhe ) is a German composer .

Life

Volker Heyn studied singing with Walter Neugebauer in Karlsruhe from 1957 to 1960 and at the Savitzki Actor's School in Melbourne from 1961 to 1963 . Between 1966 and 1970 he studied guitar privately with Antonio Losada and music theory with Don Andrews in Sydney . He then studied guitar from 1971 to 1977 at the Musikhochschule Karlsruhe, where he also studied composition with Eugen Werner Velte and was a member of his group for creative music .

His awards include scholarships from the Baden-Württemberg Art Foundation in 1981, the Heinrich Strobel Foundation in Freiburg im Breisgau in 1982 and the Rolf Liebermann Opera Scholarship in 1988. His Ferro canto , a commissioned work, has been canceled twice by Donaueschingen (1989 and 1991) and has never been performed.

He lived in Australia from 1960 to 1971 and worked in various professions, including as a shifting assistant in a steel mill, where he had his first meeting of the metallic kind , which led him to the experiments which the tones of the hard and soft edges of the reverberant metal include. He was also a member of a traveling group for two years that performed productions with and without music. He has lived in Germany again since 1971 .

In 1984 and 1986 he gave lectures in Darmstadt and gave concerts. He also gave lectures in Australia (1987) and Kyōto (1993 to 1994).

He wrote for many different ensembles (5 orchestral works, 5 vocal works and a lot of chamber music). He has also written many commissioned works, such as Water Music (2000) for piano and Seehaven.
