Volker Spierling

Volker Spierling (born April 16, 1947 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German philosopher and book author. After completing an apprenticeship as typesetter in 1965, he studied philosophy , education , psychology and sociology . He completed these studies in 1977 with a doctorate in philosophy and in 1981 with a master's degree in educational science.

He has taken on various teaching assignments and led philosophical seminars for lay people. The main areas of work include a. the philosophy of Arthur Schopenhauer and the history of philosophy. For several years he has also presented his own work in the field of fine arts .

Volker Spierling lives in Tübingen .

Spierling sees in what he calls the Kopernican turning point , an open epistemological model - in Schopenhauer's case - which leads to the avoidance of metaphysical final statements as well as to enable a metaphysics from empirical sources of knowledge . There are three levels of turnaround

  • in epistemology : dialectics of subject and object
  • in metaphysics : dialectics of subjective and objective will
  • in ethics : The dialectic of principium individuationis and tat-twam-asi (that is: This is you from Sanskrit )
