Volkmar Harwanegg

Volkmar Harwanegg (born August 27, 1944 in Vienna ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) as well as a member of the Vienna State Parliament and a member of the Vienna City Council .

School and professional career

Volkmar Harwanegg attended compulsory school between 1950 and 1958 and then completed an apprenticeship as a carpenter . In 1961 he passed the journeyman's examination and then attended evening business school until 1962.

In December 1962, Harwanegg joined the Austrian Post Office Savings Bank (ÖPSA). In 1971 it was made pragmatic and in 1972, after passing the C exam, he switched to the advertising and press department as a speaker. He was elected chairman of the ÖPSA staff council in 1979 and has been chairman of the works council of the Österreichische Postsparkasse since 1997 .

Political career

Volkmar Harwanegg was a youth functionary in the union of construction and woodworkers. From 1968 he worked in section 27 (SPÖ Laaer Berg ) and was elected deputy chairman of the section in 1969. In 1974 he was promoted to chairman of Section 27, and in 1977 he was elected to the district committee of the SPÖ Favoriten . From 1978 he represented the SPÖ in the Favoriten District Council and was elected in 1993 to the Vienna State Parliament and City Council. Here he was active in the committees for integration, women's issues, consumer protection and personnel of the control committee and the personnel commission.

Private

Volkmar Harwanegg is married and has a daughter (* 1988).
