Volkmarsdorf is a part of the municipality of Groß Twülpstedt in the Helmstedt district . It was first mentioned in a document in 1014 under the name Volksmerstorp . The place name comes from the person Volcmer .

geography

Volkmarsdorf is located immediately southeast of Wolfsburg . The village is connected to Almke , Rümmer , Groß Twülpstedt and Klein Sisbeck by district roads. The village has around 450 inhabitants (as of 2011).

history

On July 1, 1972, Volkmarsdorf was incorporated into the community of Groß Twülpstedt.

church

Volkmarsdorf is known for the Protestant St. Servatius Church . This double-towered church was built after 1896.

It is said that Emperor Lothar III. , Founder of the Königslutter cathedral , built the first church in Volkmarsdorf around 900 years ago. Until then, the Volkmarsdorf churchgoers had to go to Ochsendorf . In memory of Lothar III, today's building was given a double tower like the cathedral in Königslutter.

There are numerous clubs in Volkmarsdorf, such as the rifle club and the Eintracht Volkmarsdorf sports club , which cooperates with STV Holzland .
