Rümmer is a district of the municipality of Groß Twülpstedt in the east of the Lower Saxony district of Helmstedt .

Geography and transport links

Rümmer is located northwest of the core town of Groß Twülpstedt on the L 322 state road . The B 244 , which leads from Helmstedt to Wittingen , runs not far to the east. The Katharinenbach flows on the western and northern outskirts.

history

Rümmer is first mentioned in 1309 as Rymbere. There was a castle in the village that was the state castle of the Duchy of Braunschweig-Lüneburg. In 1382 the castle complex was destroyed by the Archbishop of Magdeburg and the castle site fell into desolation.

On July 1, 1972, Rümmer was incorporated into the community of Groß Twülpstedt.
