The Volksbank Raiffeisenbank Laupheim-Iller eG is a cooperative bank based in Laupheim . Its business area covers the eastern part of the Biberach district .

history

On November 30, 1868, the Laupheimer Gewerbebank was founded by 58 members. The bourgeoisie of the Jewish faith played a decisive role in this. With a time lag, this idea also caught on in the surrounding area. On October 25, 1883, 19 citizens from Burgrieden, Hochstetten and Burghöfe founded a loan association. Both banks got off to a promising start, especially as industrialization was rampant. Hop trading, woodworking and wood tool industry, machine and vehicle as well as a hair factory certain economic structure in the space shank Laupheim. Names like Steiger in Burgrieden or Laupheimer Werkzeugmaschinenfabrik stand for it.

The upward trend was slowed down by the First World War , inflation and the subsequent currency reform. In 1929 the commercial bank in Laupheim moved into its own premises on König-Wilhelm Strasse for the first time.

The years after the Great Depression until Hitler came to power were comparatively good. After that, the National Socialist regime determined and the Gleichschaltung also affected the Laupheimer Gewerbebank. In 1939 the institute changed its name to Volksbank Laupheim. The following world war and the war economy meant a turning point for both houses, which culminated in a second currency reform in 1948. The opening balance sheet of Volksbank Laupheim was 584,000 DM. With the introduction of the mark, Germany experienced an economic upswing that spurred both banks.

In 1984 Laupheim moved into a new building on Marktplatz, which was rounded off by an adjacent new building in 2000. Changed framework conditions, increasing competition and cost pressure have led to a structural change in the cooperative sector since the 1970s. The Raiffeisen banks Baustetten and Oberholzheim merged with the Volksbank in 1981 and 1992. The merger of Volksbank with Raiffeisenbanken Wain, Schönebürg, Achstetten and Mietingen in 2000 created a regional bank in the northern district of Biberach. This structural change process reached a climax after the Rottalbank joined in 2006. In 2013 the Volksbank Laupheim eG finally merged with the Raiffeisenbank Illertal eG.
