Oberholzheim is a district of the municipality of Achstetten in the Biberach district in Baden-Württemberg . The street village is located on the plateau between the Rot- and Schmiechental , about one kilometer east of Achstetten.

history

In the Middle Ages, local rule was divided between Gutenzell Monastery and Ulm citizens. The latter sold their rights to the Biberach hospital in 1439 , which later acquired further property here.

The share of the hospital went to Baden in 1803 and to Württemberg in 1806 . As a result of secularization in 1803, the rights of the monastery came to the Counts of Törring and in 1806 under Württemberg sovereignty . Oberholzheim was initially subordinated to the Oberamt Biberach and in 1810 to the Oberamt Wiblingen .

During the municipal reform in Baden-Württemberg , the formerly independent municipality of Oberholzheim was incorporated into the municipality of Achstetten on March 1, 1972.

coat of arms

Description of the coat of arms : "A golden sword and a golden key crossed diagonally in blue, above a golden ploughshare."

Interpretation of the coat of arms: “Key and sword are the attributes of the church patrons Peter and Paul . The ploughshare is intended to indicate the agricultural character of the community. The colors of the coat of arms are those of the city of Biberach and are reminiscent of the former close historical connection with this imperial city . "(Text from the municipality of Achstetten)
