history
On April 27, 1859, the cooperative was named for the first time in the main administrative report of the city of Görlitz - Arta des Magistrats zu Görlitz - and in the report of the Chamber of Commerce .
Due to the economic crisis of 1929, the bank became the "Gewerbe- und Landwirtschaftsbank eGmbH" from 1929 to 1931 . Since in the Third Reich all commercial banks had to rename themselves to Volksbanks as part of the synchronization, the cooperative bank also became the "Volksbank Görlitz eGmbH" in 1938. At the end of 1945 after the end of the Second World War , the office was closed and reopened on January 1, 1946. At the general assembly on April 10, 1946, the change of name to "Bank für Handwerk und Gewerbe eGmbH" was decided. After the reunification the bank was renamed "Volksbank Görlitz eG".
In 1991 there was a merger with Raiffeisenbank Görlitz eG and the "Volksbank Raiffeisenbank Görlitz eG" was created. In 2005 this merged with Volksbank Raiffeisenbank Niesky-Weißwasser eG to form "Volksbank Raiffeisenbank Lower Silesia".
