The Volkshochschule Bregenz is located in the city of Bregenz in Vorarlberg . The adult education center offers over 600 courses annually.
history
The Volkshochschule Bregenz was founded in October 1948 by a board of trustees as a citizens' initiative and the first course program started in autumn 1948. In 1949 it was constituted as an association . In 1950, the former Minister of Education, Emil Schneider, took over the chairmanship. The focus of the early course was lectures, languages , travel , but also housekeeping .
Since the 1980s, the organization has seen strong increases in courses and course attendance (1975: 82 courses, 1990: 276 courses, 2016: 643 courses). The Adult Education Center in Bregenz has had a full-time manager since 1986.
The Adult Education Center in Bregenz has been offering vocational maturity exams since 1999, and apprenticeship and Matura since 2010 .
Another focus of the facility is German as a foreign language .

The association is headed by an honorary board to this day . Since April 2018 the director of the Bundesgymnasium Bregenz - Blumenstrasse, Klemens Voit, has been the chairman of the VHS Bregenz.
Awards
On November 30th, 2016 VHS Bregenz was named “Best Employer Vorarlberg 2016” by Governor Markus Wallner and AK President Hubert Hämmerle in the category 11-50 employees. The organization already succeeded in doing this in 2015. In June 2018, VHS Bregenz was awarded the Recognized for Excellence 5 * award. This means that the association is listed as an “excellent company” according to EFQM .
