The Coburg-Creidlitz primary school (formerly Coburg-Creidlitz elementary school ) is located in the Coburg district of Creidlitz . The listed primary school building was built from 1903 to 1904 in the Mannerist Neo-Renaissance style.

history

Since the Creidlitz population had increased enormously in 1903 as a result of industrialization, it became necessary to build a school house. As the Creidlitz pastor Greiner reports in his chronicle, the then mayor Gehrlicher pushed the construction forward energetically. It caused the Niederfüllbachers, whose school the Creidlitz children had attended since 1838, to pay around 12,000 marks. Two plots of land were up for discussion as a building site for the school building, one on Röthenhügel opposite today's kindergarten and one on Bücherschen Berge, today's location. Today's schoolhouse was built there in 1903 and 1904.

The inauguration took place on April 11, 1904, and the school opened on April 14, 1904. 94 students were taught by a teacher. Due to the sharp increase in the number of pupils to around 170, the school was expanded by two classes in 1913.

After the end of the Second World War, 220 students had to be taught in shifts in four classrooms. This also included the children from Triebsdorf . The kindergarten was housed in the hallway on the first floor, and a makeshift school kitchen was set up there later. The agricultural vocational school was a guest on two afternoons and on Sundays Protestant and Catholic services took place in the classrooms. A public bath with showers and bathtubs was housed in the basement of the extension.

The school celebrated its 50th anniversary in 1954 with a festival commers and a children's party. The tradition of an annual children's festival remained. In 1958, shift lessons ended, as space for a fifth classroom was gained through the closure of the teacher's service apartment on the ground floor. In the course of the associated construction work, the sanitary facilities were moved from the adjoining building - where the fire station is today - to the school building.

In 1964 the school gymnasium was built in the former school garden. After the Triebsdorf guest students were referred to the Ahorn elementary school, the Creidlitz school was only run in four classes. This year the first discussions with Niederfüllbach about the establishment of an association school in Creidlitz-Niederfüllbach took place. In 1966, the Creidlitz council refused to set up a school in Creidlitz-Niederfüllbach-Seidmannsdorf-Lützelbuch-Rögen. In 1968 the municipal councils and the parents' councils gave their consent to the formation of a Creidlitz-Niederfüllbach school association on a trial basis. 330 pupils were taught in the school buildings in Creidlitz and Niederfüllbach.

The 5th grade students attended the Rückert primary school in Coburg from 1971 . As part of the regional reform, the Creidlitz-Niederfüllbach school association was dissolved again in 1972. 115 children attended school in Creidlitz. In 1980 there was a drop in the number of students to 87 and consideration was given to closing the school. In 2002 the primary school Creidlitz was completely renovated by the city of Coburg. In 2004 the school celebrated its centenary. In the anniversary year they visited 51 students.

architecture

The two-storey brick building with sandstone structures on the ascent of Florianweg was created according to a design by H. Geiger from Scherneck . Valley side is the construction of three structured with a three-axis central section with wider shed dormer and two outer projections with stepped gables. The northern risalit has two double windows on the upper floor, the southern one has three axes. The window frames are segmented and set off in two colors. In each of the two gables there is a romanizing double arcade made of sandstone between the windows and the tondi .

The windowless eaves side is decorated with double bands and bears the year of construction, set in a sandstone facade. The school building is entered from the mountain side through a covered double entrance on the side of the building's left projections. The brick chimney is on the schoolyard side.
