Pierre de Bacterie
The "stone of bacteria" is designed with small, round mirrors. They are arranged in a V and Y shape. The representation corresponds to the arrangement of the individual rods of the Corynebacterium diphtheriae under the microscope Uwe Dieter Bleil
Philosopher's Stone
The stone bears the signatures of famous doctors of the 19th and 20th centuries. Robert Koch , Emil von Behring, Louis Pasteur , Ignatz Semmelweis , Rudolf Virchow , Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen and Theodor Billroth did not find the Philosopher's Stone, but their research made a decisive contribution to modern medicine. Just Shethiya
“Even Shethija” is the cornerstone of the world in Hebrew. According to Maimonides , it served as an altar for the Ark of the Covenant in the 1st Temple in Jerusalem. He stands for the immortality of the world.

At the beginning of the 20th century, Behring's discovery shook the then valid world view of medicine.

Speakers' Corner
The sculpture refers to Speakers' Corner in Hyde Park, London. Through a parliamentary resolution of 1872, anyone can give a lecture on any topic without having to register. It stands for the dissemination of knowledge. The original work of art was designed with a lectern. This fell victim to metal thieves. In its place there is now a cement slab with footprints. Stone of places
Four granite paving stones stand on a sandstone painted with Inca gold. These stand for historically and politically significant places in the world where people demonstrated for the desire for a better life.

The golden stone also represents the philosopher's stone and symbolizes the fact that dreams and wishes can become reality through transmutation - if you know how.

Fame and honor
A photograph by Emil von Behring is embedded in the sandstone with the quote:

"I was driven by the need to dedicate my life to an important and honorable goal."

Savior of the children
On the stone there is a stencil graffiti of two girls with syringes. By the time Emil von Behring found the drug against diphtheria, every second child died of the disease. In the press of the time he was called "the savior of children". Ursula Vehar

The stones for the works of art come from the Rauen quarry in Mülheim-Broich , tools and creative material were provided by the Harbecke building materials center. Initially, however, it was unclear whether the works from the symposium could remain on Von-Behring-Platz. After all, the design of a square falls under “Art in Architecture” and has to be approved by the authorities. However, this was quickly clarified by District Council 1. The seven stones in honor of Nobel Prize winner Emil von Behring are still erected here as a memorial today.
