Von-der-Tann-Strasse 1 (Bad Kissingen)
The property with the name Palais Erthal, Von-der-Tann-Straße 1 , in Bad Kissingen , the major district town of the Lower Franconian district of Bad Kissingen, is one of the Bad Kissingen architectural monuments and is under the number D-6-72-114-106 in registered in the Bavarian Monument List .
history
The two-storey mansard roof building in the corner was built in the second half of the 18th century. The property known today as Palais Erthal belonged to the noble von Erthal family, who have been living in Kissingen since the 15th century . In addition to a no longer preserved city residence in the northwest corner of the old town quarter (behind the Judenhof established by the von Erthal family in today's Bachstrasse) the von Erthal family owned a country estate with a garden on the site of the Palais Erthal. Only the Erthal Palace has survived. It was part of a courtyard that was converted into a spa pension in the late 19th century, which also included an elongated garden with a central avenue of trees, which also no longer existed.
Until the end of the 1960s, the property housed the Bad Kissinger city library, which is now located on Rathausplatz , and then the then agricultural department. From 1997 to 2012, the Erthal Palace was expanded into a café by its tenant. After he took over the Café Kaiser in the Bad Kissingen city center, a lease contract was first signed with two tenants from nearby Bad Bocklet , who already ran two cafés there. However, after the lease had failed due to the increasing costs for the necessary renovation, the city of Bad Kissingen sold the café in early 2015 to a local building contractor, who carried out the necessary renovation from autumn 2015.
