Voroicus

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Voroicus is a Celtic god who was probably worshiped as a local deity in the area around Vichy in France ( Allier department , Auvergne region ). A dedicatory inscription found there indicates that, according to the Interpretatio Romana, he was equated with the Roman god of war Mars . Bernhard Maier is considering an etymological connection to the district of Vouroux ( canton Varennes-sur-Allier ) in the north of Vichy.
