Vossen GmbH & Co. KG is the name of a textile company founded in Gütersloh in 1925 , which has become known in particular for terry toweling products. The company's headquarters are now in Jennersdorf , Austria .

history

Burghardt Vossen founded the company in Gütersloh, East Westphalia, in 1925, initially with six employees. His goal was to turn the luxury fabric of the time, terry, into an affordable commodity for everyone. The company was successful and grew rapidly. In 1936, 400 employees were already working around the clock in three shifts. In 1951 Vossen invented the toweling house and bathrobe.

This was followed by further expansion with the establishment of branch plants at other locations, including in Warburg (1959), in Niedermarsberg and in Jennersdorf in Burgenland, Austria (1968).

On September 4, 1963, large parts of the plant in Gütersloh were destroyed by a major fire, but then rebuilt.

As a result of the globalization of the textile industry, production was restructured in 1996 in favor of the Austrian location. After the bankruptcy in 1997, the former main plant in Gütersloh - Kattenstroth and the other production sites in Germany were closed. In Jennersdorf, a group of investors took over, including the state of Burgenland, the buildings, employees, entire production and all trademark rights. In 2003 the weaving mill was modernized for 6.9 million euros.

Linz Textil AG, one of the world's largest yarn manufacturers , has been the 100 percent owner of Vossen GmbH since 2004 . In 2008, production was expanded to include a slip system , sizing and special air finishing technology based on the air pillow method . A new assembly line was also installed.

production

In the weaving and dyeing works in Jennersdorf, terry towels for hand, bath, shower and beach towels, sauna kilts and bath rugs are produced around the clock. Approx. 60 tons of raw yarn are processed per week for fulled, velor, woven and knitted terry, which make around 100,000 pieces. The bathrobes are made in Turkey.

Corporate structure

The company has a sales office in Bielefeld, near the Gütersloh site where it was founded.
