Vreni Inäbnit (born March 31, 1948 in Grindelwald ) is a former Swiss ski racer . She achieved two top 10 placements in the World Cup , took part in the 1968 Winter Olympics and was two-time Swiss downhill champion.

Career

Inäbnit became Swiss junior champion in slalom and combined in 1967. The next winter she was accepted into the Swiss national team, to which she belonged until 1971. Inäbnit took part in the 1968 Winter Olympics in Grenoble , where she placed 17th in the slalom, 18th in the downhill and 19th in the giant slalom in midfield.

One month after the Games, Inäbnit won her first points in the World Cup when she finished fifth in the Aspen Downhill on March 15, 1968 . This also remained her best World Cup result. Two days later, however, she suffered knee injuries in a fall in a giant slalom, which resulted in an operation. In the next few years, she only rode into the World Cup points, i.e. among the top ten, once, as eighth of the downhill run from Pra-Loup on January 28, 1971.

Inäbnit celebrated her greatest successes at national level with two Swiss championship titles in the downhill in 1969 and 1971. In 1971 she also came third in both slalom and giant slalom and thus second behind Bernadette Zurbriggen in the combination . In addition, Inäbnit won the Swiss club championships in slalom and combined with other drivers from the Grindelwald ski club in 1966 and 1969.
