Vukašin Radišić

Vukašin Radišić ( Serbian Вукашин Радишић; * 1810 ; † December 15, 1843 ) was a Serbian diplomat , poet, professor of Greek language and translator .

Radišić was one of the first Serbian classical philologists and held a chair for poetics . In 1840 he published in the Belgrade magazine Golubica (No. 2, pp. 213-233) a Serbian translation of the dramatic parody Katomyomachia ( Κατομυομαχία , Cat- Mouse War ) by Theodoros Prodromos from the 12th century under the alternative title Galeomyαomachia ( Γαλεομ, Γαλεομ ) apparently the first modern translation of a profane Byzantine poetic text into Serbian. He has published several times on the Greek scholar Adamantios Korais (1748–1833). He was also secretary of the Embassy of the Principality of Serbia at the Sublime Porte in Istanbul and worked for the Belgrade Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the secret service.
