Vulcano di Fango Vualt is a seamount , specifically a mud volcano , in the Drake Passage north of the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands in the Antarctic . It covers an area of 94 km², lies 2216 m below sea level west of Elephant Island and rises 255 m above the sea floor. It belongs to the Vulcano di Fango Grauzaria system .
Scientists from the BSR project carried out between 2003 and 2004 on board the research vessel Explora discovered it. It has been named after Monte Vualt on the edge of the Italian Aupa valley since 2007 .
