Səməd Vurğun (also Samäd Vurğun , Russian Самед Вургун / Samed Wurgun, born as Səməd Vəkilov , Russian Самед Векилов / Samed Wekilow; * March 21, 1906 in Qazax ; † May 27, 1956 in Baku , a famous worker from Azerbaijan Arts of the Azerbaijani SSR and a member of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan . For his dramas Vurğun was awarded the State Prize of the USSR twice; 1941 for Vaqif (1937) and 1942 for Fərhad və Şirin (1941).

Vurğun published his first poem in 1924. The Azerbaijani State Theater of Russian Drama and streets in Baku and Moscow are named after Vurğun. In addition, the Armenian city of Howk was named after him at times.
