Qazax ( Arabic script قازاخ, Cyrillic script Газах) is a city in Azerbaijan . It is the capital of the Qazax district . Around 21,000 people live in the city (2014).

economy

Culture and recreation

Many buildings from the 18th century have been preserved in the city, including the Juma Mosque and the Israfil Agha Baths, a traditional Turkish bathhouse. There are also two old churches in the city, but they are no longer used as such.

There are several parks in the city as well as a cultural center and a museum.

traffic

The M2 trunk road and the railway line from Ağstafa to Armenia, a good 10 km away from Qazax (there in the direction of Dilijan  - Yerevan ) run through the city, but which has been interrupted to the southwest of the town as a result of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict since the early 1990s. There are regular bus and train connections to Baku.
