Vytas Navickas

Vytas Navickas (born March 14, 1952 in Degėsiai , district Lazdijai ) is a Lithuanian economist , professor , former politician ( Minister of Economy ).

Life

Education and scientific activities

In 1970 Navickas graduated from Druskininkai Middle School . From 1970 to 1975 he studied at the Faculty of Finance and Accounting at Vilnius University . He has been a qualified business mathematician since June 1975 . From 1975 to 1989 Vytas Navickas worked as a research assistant at the Economic Institute of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences . In 1983 he received his doctorate in economics.

From 1980 to 1989 and from 1997 to 2004 he taught at the VPI, Vilnius University , VU TVM and VGTU , from 2008 to 2010 at the MRU. Since 2012 Vytas Navickas has been teaching as a professor of business administration and economics at the Lithuanian Pedagogical University (now Lietuvos edukologijos universitetas ) in Vilnius .

Political career

From April 1990 to May 1991, from October 5, 1995 to February 8, 1996, and again from July 19, 2006 to December 9, 2008, Vytas Navickas was Lithuania's Minister of Economic Affairs . He was also Deputy Minister of Economic Affairs from May 1991 to October 1995. From 2004 to 2008 he was a member of the parliamentary group of the Lithuanian Peasant Party in the Lithuanian parliament without being a member of the party.

In his third term as Minister of Economic Affairs (2006 to 2008), Navickas played a key role in the controversial formation of the national energy supplier Leo LT .

From 1996 to 2004 Navickas was the managing director of the company "Draudos asistavimas", from 1999 to 2005 Vice-President of the Hanseatic Parliament and from 2001 to 2005 President of the Vilnius Chamber of Commerce .
